RED, WHITE, AND BLUE WEDDING CAKE
This Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery fromage blanc cheesecake has six layers of berry-adorned good. The layers are flavored with lemon zest vanilla bean, and black pepper, and sit atop an organic cornmeal crust.

TEARDROP WEDDING CAKE
Give your cake a dash of whimsy. Purchase up a fondant cake, along with a bucket of fondant, from a bakery. Add food coloring to get the colors that are best, and roll out into a thin sheet.

IKAT AND FRENCH SILK RIBBON WEDDING CAKE
The spirit of a century-old French silk ribbon may be felt in every bite of this darling cake. On top rests a remarkable bow of molded gum paste (so realistic, you will be tempted to untie it). Afterward we painted blended with lemon extract on the fondant in a rose design that evokes the blurry quality of an ikat weave to edible luster dust.

EMBROIDERED LACE AND APPLIQUED WEDDING CAKE
To evoke a trendy '60s dress crafted of embroidered lace blanketed with cotton floral appliques, cake designer Ron Ben-Israel created silicone molds of appliques inspired by the first cloth—no small job considering there were 25 shapes to repeat, including dahlias, roses, and periwinkles. Sugar paste was pressed into each form, then applied in layers to the fondant. The ensuing ivory tower is one that both generations— yours and your mom's —will adore.

WHITE-CHOCOLATE PANELED WEDDING CAKE
Architectural however intimate, our white-chocolate panel cake needs neither culinary talents nor layout abilities (apart from those you learned in preschool). Simply purchase a buttercream cake from a pack of chocolate panels from chocolatier Christopher Norman along with a neighborhood bakery. The remainder is a cakewalk: fill the ledges with a different fruit or gold raspberries, and Adhere panels of varying heights onto the tiers.

MINI CHOCOLATE-COVERED WEDDING CAKES
Elaborate: Yes. Fussy: Not in the least. (Perch the cakes on a wire stand so extra glaze does not pool.) Then we lightly pulled a toothpick to produce the designs.

HEART WEDDING CAKE
The heart was thought to function as the origin of most human emotions. Though modern science proves otherwise, the phrase "giving your heart" remains the best way to express that you'd give anything for the one you adore. Jay Qualls of the Tennessee-based Maples Wedding Cakes printed our designs on paper, covered them traced them then transferred them.

WEDDING PETIT FOURS
Soaked in brown sugar, butter, and honey glaze, these geometric minis by Wendy Kromer - Schell and Caitlin Brown resemble honeycombs. We topped them off with whipped cream and a serving of candied kumquats.

DUTCH GOLDEN AGE WEDDING CAKE
Inspired by the hyper- realistic botanical still-life paintings of Dutch artist Rachel Ruysch, circa 1685 to 1750, more than one guest can do a double take in the sight of the cake, which resembles a verdant floral centerpiece. Custom-made sugar flowers, created by Amy DeGiulio of Sugar Flower Cake Shop in New York, were put in a bed of chocolate-fondant-covered cake, that has been place in a large gold urn. Fill the cake's layers with rosewater buttercream to call out the blooming adornments of it's.

SPRING WEDDING CAKE
Springerle forms are what make this cake (an orange-chiffon confection filled with mascarpone) excellent. Although the unique purple tint and springtime characters (bunnies, birds, and blooms) aren't too shabby, either.

A WEDDING CAKE WITH DIFFERENT STRIPES
Here, we set the idea of icing on ice, relying rather on unadorned pale layers for graphical appeal. Coconut pound cake, tinted with gel-paste food coloring, serves as the foundation, while white fondant and passion fruit curd rests on top (the curd can also be between each layer).

POTTED PLANT WEDDING CAKE
Contributing editor Jason Schreiber made this herb-adorned cake, which features micro marigolds, fennel and cilantro blossoms, bachelor's buttons, sweet alyssums, oregano, and pea shoots. Swiss meringue buttercream's tacky feel kept the edible blossoms (purchase your own at gourmetsweetbotanicals.com) in place.

CHOCOLATE STOUT WEDDING CAKE
Each layer of this chocolate nude cake by Wendy Kromer- Caitlin Brown and Schell drizzled with chocolate and caramel ganache is filled with buttercream, and topped with candied pecans. Meanwhile, the actual cake features butter, yogurt, and stout (customize yours with your preferred brew), making each bite decadently moist.

ROSE-PIPED WEDDING CAKE
This happy rose confection may seem couture, but just about anyone is capable of re-creating it. Begin with a plain fondant cake from a bakery. Next, print out our template of roses that are intangible, area parchment paper and trace using a piping bag of royal icing. Once dry, peel the paper from the piped roses, and adhere the designs to the cake using gum paste that is been combined with hot water.
